Questions

Have Medicare Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

What is Medicare and who is eligible?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older, as well as certain younger people with disabilities or ESRD. Eligibility includes U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have worked and paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years.

What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare that includes Part A, Part B, and often Part D. Medigap (Supplemental Insurance) helps pay out-of-pocket costs like copays and deductibles for Original Medicare.

When can I enroll in Medicare?

You can enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period (3 months before, the month of, and 3 months after your 65th birthday). There are also General and Special Enrollment Periods for qualifying events.

Does Medicare cover prescription drugs?

Yes, Medicare Part D offers prescription drug coverage. You can add it to Original Medicare or get it through a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage.

How much does Medicare cost?

Costs vary by plan and income. Original Medicare includes Part A (usually premium-free) and Part B premiums. Medicare Advantage and Part D have additional premiums, deductibles, and copays.

Can I keep my doctor with Medicare?

It depends on the plan. Original Medicare is accepted by most doctors. Medicare Advantage plans have networks, so you'll want to check if your doctor is in-network.
